The students of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Cleveland, Ohio, raised $1,195.45 for the Kids of Cleveland Youth Organization as part of the OC Federal Credit Union (OCFCU) Challenge Grant Program. The students were presented with a $500 grant at the beginning of the school year and challenged to double the grant for a charity or non-profit group of their choice. Congratulations to the students for more than doubling their goal!
OC Federal Credit Union is committed to supporting the mission of Catholic education and helping students live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. The Catholic School Challenge Grant Program was developed to encourage students to work collaboratively and multiply the gifts provided by God.
Ten grants in the amount of $500 have been awarded to Catholic middle schools throughout the Dioceses of Cleveland, Columbus, Steubenville, Toledo, and Youngstown. The Catholic School Challenge Grant Program is based upon the biblical principles found in the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30). The participating students are challenged to take the $500 gift provided by OCFCU and develop a plan to utilize their talents to multiply the gift. The students also have the responsibility of selecting a local charity or charitable cause to receive the funds. Stay tuned as more results come in!
