OC Federal Credit Union expanded its Catholic School Grant Program in 2018 and awarded $68,000 to thirty-four different Catholic schools throughout the Diocese of Cleveland and Youngstown. Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Cuyahoga Falls and St. Martin de Porres High School in Cleveland were selected for the top two grant awards of $10,000. Four schools were selected for grants in the amount of $5,000: Academy of St. Adalbert in Berea, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School in Chardon, Seton Catholic School in Hudson, and St. Anselm School in Chesterland. A total of twenty-eight other schools received grants in the amount of $1,000.
Funding for the Catholic School Grant Program was increased in 2018 from $55,000 to $68,000. All qualified Catholic schools that applied for a grant received assistance from OC Federal Credit Union for the 2018-19 school year. The grant funding supported a variety of initiatives, including significant upgrades in technology, a non-profit printing press, school-wde retreat programs, a peer education program, STEM & STREAM curriculum additions, and other capital improvement projects.
